Plan from demand and capacity

The planned production planning and control (PPC) workflow brings together customer orders, historical sales and market demand. Production requirements can then be reviewed against machine capacity, manpower and priorities before a schedule is agreed.

Translate production into material requirements

Bills of materials (BOM), formulas and routing form the proposed manufacturing foundation. Material requirements planning (MRP) compares the inputs needed for production with available stock so shortages can feed purchasing decisions.

Follow each unit, order and batch

The model supports multiple manufacturing units with their own machines, work centres and stores. Its production workflow covers material issue, consumption, WIP, output, wastage, rework and finished-goods transfer. Quality checkpoints are part of that flow.

A practical planning scenario

A machinery-parts manufacturer receives a repeat order while another batch is still in progress. Planning needs to compare the requested date with work-centre capacity, approved material and existing commitments. The intended workflow makes those constraints visible before production is scheduled. This example illustrates the model; it is not a customer result or proof of a released feature.

What to prepare before a manufacturing demonstration

Bring sample products, BOMs or formulas, routing stages, work centres, capacity assumptions and the stores involved. Explain how you currently record wastage, rework and output. A realistic example helps establish whether the available workflow fits your type of manufacturing.

Where production hands over to other teams

Purchasing needs a material requirement it can act on. Quality needs a product, batch and inspection context. Stores need a clear release decision. Sales and dispatch need to know what can be committed. Define these handovers as part of implementation rather than treating production as an isolated screen.

How do multi-unit operations differ?

Each unit may have its own machines, capacity and stores while sharing company-level products and commercial demand. Confirm the supported separation, transfer process and consolidated reporting before planning a multi-plant rollout.
